Boxee Box Announced

The Beta of the Boxee Box was just announced. The box will be built by D-Link and has:

 

  • HDMI, SPDIF, RCA Audio
  • 2 USB for expansion 
  • Wi-Fi (802.11n) and wired ethernet.
  • Available in the first half of 2010
  • No pricing yet

The Beta will be open to the public on Jan 7th (at CES). Over the next 4 weeks they will gradually release invitations to Boxee early access users (you can add your name to the early access list here).

Ah yes, but can it handle full 1080p playback on the graphics side? I have been wondering if i should look for a nettop that can handle 1080p since they seem to be cheaper than mac minis. Either way, I think this is a move in the right direction. Take all of the install and compatibility hassle out of the equation for the majority of consumers and they will come.

The form factor is butt ugly. Get real Just the looks would stop my purchase. Even if it is a good product.
