Listener Speaker Build

We received an email with pictures from Mark Allen about his speaker build. With his permission we are posting it here:

Just wanted to give you a shout out for introducing me to speaker building. A while ago I was actually looking to upgrade my system and was doing some research when your episode featuring the CSS interview came out. After listening to that and hearing you talk about speaker builds I started to do some research into it. Shortly after I was sold on making my own system.
I actually had near minimum knowledge of woodworking or electronics. After a week of watching how-to videos by some youtube channels and then another week of watching woodworking basics from Steve Ramsey Woodworking For Mere Mortals, also on Youtube, I started my build.
Definitely a challenge with limited knowledge and only having a brad nailer, drill, router, and circular saw but after like 100+ hours of trial and error I was able to pull off one of Paul Carmody's designs. The sub is just the Parts Express 15" Ultimax kit with a 800w RMS plate amp. That was my intro to the frustration of clamps and gluing. I think it's amazing how much you can learn from Youtube videos given I knew nothing about it prior to starting.
I was already into botany so I think choosing the veneer was the most fun part. I went with Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus Virginiana) with a couple coats of teak oil which gave it the rustic but modern look I wanted.
Once again just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration and all the work you guys put into the show, it's something to look forward to on my Friday drives into work. The inspiration for me has gone beyond the speakers now and I have also gotten into some other woodworking projects like coffee tables and lamps. Probably would never have done that if I didn't hear you talk about the hobby on your show.
Thank you for the inspiration,
Mark

Congratulations, this is a great accomplishment and the speakers look fantastic! Can you give some more details on the speaker and electronic parts you used for the build?
