Blockbuster vs Dish vs. Netflix
Price – Blockbuster is a much better deal.
Ease of Use – There is no “signing on” for every access as there was going through my Playstation for Netflix. Blockbuster is totally integrated with the DVR receiver from Dish. It is a menu item. Access is immediate. All you have to do is go through an initial simple setup.
Stream or Download for every movie – You can do either. If you download it says on the receiver for a month. You can delete a movie at any time. Once you download, watching is the same as watching a recorded DVR show. I have not tried to watch something in streaming mode yet. You can download multiple movies and just select the one you want to watch….same as watching a recorded movie from Dish.
Quality – My downloaded movies look great. Standard or HD…your choice for most movies. Blu-Ray included in the DVD service at no extra charge.
Selection – I guess Netflix has more, but Blockbuster has enough for me.
Trade at the store – I have a Blockbuster about a mile from my house, so I can trade in a mailed DVD for one off the shelf there and keep it as long as I want to. Once I return it, they send me one from the queue.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a better value for me. I can see why this is limited to Dish subscribers with the DVR feature on their satellite receiver as the new service is tightly integrated with the standard Dish interface. If they want to offer this to non-Dish subscribers, they have a lot of development to do.

I agree about the value, however the usability of Netflix is much better than that of the Blockbuster Movie Pass. Netflix has a much nicer user interface which is easier to navigate and interact with.
I agree that searching for movies on the Dish\Blockbuster system seems more cumbersome. To make this easy for now I just search by the year the movie was made. You can refine your search, but it is not as smooth as Netflix.
I would also say that the HD movies from Blockbuster seem to be just as good as a DVD and better than Netflix on my 55 inch Panasonic Plasma.
