Dish Network to Release a new Joey that Supports 4K 

Dish Network announced that the some time in Q2 you will have an opportunity to get your hands on a Joey that supports 4K. Top 25 Movies at the Box Office for 2014

Box office ticket sales dropped by 5.2% in 2014 hitting a low that hasn’t been seen in 19 years. We are partially to blame. We have invested thousands in home theater equipment that can produce an experience better than most theaters, especially if you include non-technical aspects like concession prices and noisy patrons. Why pay high ticket prices when if you are patient you can buy the disc for less than it costs for two people to go see a movie. LG to Show UHD TV with Quantum Dot Technology at 2015 CES

If you are looking for another reason to go to CES this year why not check out the LG Electronics booth. They are showing a new 4K ULTRA HD TV series with quantum dot technology. Quantum dot technology will offer a wider color palette and improved color saturation than conventional LCD TVs and will be available in 2015 but no official date or price is known at this time.

Tablet TV goes live in San Francisco

Never fear, Aereo fans, Tablet TV has officially launched their service in the Bay Area. Now tablet owners in and around San Francisco can enjoy up to 50 digital broadcast network and local channels without the need for an Internet or cellular connection or a Cable or Satellite subscription.  For those not in the Bay Area, Tablet TV is promising to rollout to several more major markets across the US in 2015. And once you have your Tablet TV, you can take it with you to any of those markets anywhere in America and watch and record what’s on TV.

Vizio adds 4K streaming apps for Amazon Instant Video, UltraFlix and Toon Goggles

Vizio announced that Amazon Instant Video, UltraFlix and Toon Goggles will soon be streaming in 4K on VIZIO P-Series Ultra HDTVs. Vizio will also roll out picture enhancements including improvements to their local dimming which will improve black levels according to the press release (see below). There are also improvements to the sharpness control and a few other enhancements.

Fox Networks Grants Access its TV Everywhere Services to DIRECTV's Subscribers 

If you are a one of the 20 million DIRECTV subscribers in the US you now have access to FOX NOW, FXNOW and Nat Geo TV apps, and the networks' TV Everywhere services on your tablet, phone, computer or setop box. In addition the feeds of FX, FXX, FS1, FS2, National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD available for out-of-home streaming on the DIRECTV Everywhere platform.
