Anyone have good settings for this TV?
Is it normal for LED TVs to have white "flares" (for lack of a better term) during black? It is less noticeable when backlight is turned down.
I went from an LCD rear projection, so this TV is SO bright.
Yes this is considered Normal. I own this set also and see it in mine and on all brands of this type of LED/LCD. On Hulu Plus when they have the return screen on, it is real bad. As I know for a fact, each gen of a product, things like this are improved. The best way is to lower backlight. I love my set and this is from a tech with 37 years of fixing TV's. At night in a dark room I would suggest setting up one of the preset like Natural to a lower backlight setting. Don't forget that on this set and most LED/LCD that even if the screen is dark the backlights’ are still on. I cannot speak for the manufacture or the company you purchased the set from. For me I know that it not hurting the set or will it lower the way I feel for this set. Plasma is the only true way to get around this. I will take this small thing over the other problem that plasma set brings. For me I have 3 preset set up. One is for day. Second is for night. Third is for watch 3D at night. Still working on 3D setting, because movie 3D and cartoon style 3D have different viewing problems. May have to go to 4 pre set. If you want respond back on this thread and I will keep checking back.
