OK , you have been listening to our podcast for a while and you
want to jump into the HDTV game. You hear us tell you about HDTV from
cable, satellite and Over The Air (OTA). But we don't live in your
neighborhood so there is no way for the HT Guys to know about the
specifics about HDTV from your area. Well there is a website called
HDTV Pub (
http://www.hdtvpub.com) They say its, "High Definition Hardware, local DTV information & more...".
People in your area have posted reports on HDTV from cable
companies local to the area and OTA reception. You enter your ZIP code
and are immediately taken to a page that lists information about your
local market. It contains great information about what frequencies your
locals are broadcasting on , how much power they are transmitting with
, and the exact position of the tower.
Beyond that, they are user reports on OTA reception issues and
many users report which antenna they are using and how they maximize
reception. Users who subscribe to cable also report about what channels
are carried by the cable company and whether they like the service or
not. Its a great way to really find out information directly pertaining
to your geographical area.
There are some things at the site that are out of date. Like
they still have a section on Voom and their DTV timeline is out of
date. But other than that its a valuable resource for someone just
jumping into the HDTV game.
