    About Sam Runco

Sam Runco has been one of the world's best known and respected leaders in the consumer video projection industry for more than 30 years and has been credited by numerous publications with coining the term "Home Theater." He founded Runco International in 1987 with his wife, Lori, and has since been an innovator in the development of the high-end home video market. In 1989, Mr. Runco pioneered the home theater market by developing cutting edge line doubler technology, combined with data projectors, creating an entirely new product category for the consumer electronics industry. Shortly thereafter, he introduced the world's first home video aspect ratio controller, producing widescreen picture formats almost a decade before they became the industry standard. Continuing in this tradition of excellence Runco only delivers the Finest Home Theater Products available in the market today.

Sam Runco plays a leadership role in the industry as a member of numerous organizations and associations. He is the recipient of CEDIA's (Consumer Electronic Design and Installation Association) peer-selected Lifetime Achievement Award as well as Dealerscope's Magazine Hall of Fame, and CEPro's 10 Most Influential Leaders in the Custom Installation industry. He is also in his fourth term on the board of directors of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and on the board of the CEA Video Division.

    Runco History:

    Mission Statement:
Runco International provides the Finest Video Imaging for the Entertainment Enthusiast. We accomplish this by promoting and maintaining long-term relationships through the delivery of our products, services, and training, all of which exceed our customer's expectations.
Sam Runco has been an innovator in the large screen projection business since the early 1970's, when his projectors first proudly displayed the Runco name. Before Runco International was formed, the company functioned as Runco Video, and introduced a wide variety of video products. Among the most popular was the Cinemabeam, the first projector to feature external convergence controls, allowing the video image to be projected onto screens much larger than previously possible. In 1972, using a Fresnel lens, Sam was able to magnify the image of a 15" television and project it onto a wall. This signified a turning point, as the seed was planted for the future of large screen entertainment.
